Hi, my name is Katie Christy and I’m a Gallup-Certified Strengths Coach. I get serious energy from helping people and organizations discover and utilize their strengths. As military spouses, we often have a hard time figuring out exactly what we do best, especially as we’re asked to constantly volunteer for various military-related events, causes, and functions year-round. But being able to find your strengths are important. Why wouldn’t you want to be doing something that not only you love, but also that you’re good at?

Instead of pouring time and energy into marginally improving weaknesses, this month we will clearly identify our talents and be intentional about bringing those talents to bear fruit in all aspects of our lives. As a result, we are more fulfilled, engaged, and effective. I have found that:

  • people who focus on their strengths are three times as likely to report having an excellent quality of life.
  • people who focus on using their strengths are six times as likely to be engaged with their relationships, their jobs, and their communities.
  • people who use their strengths every day are 7.8% more productive.

Join me this month as we learn about our strengths. Together we will learn:

  • how to find your natural talent and turn it into a usable strength.
  • what a Strength Domain is and how that shapes who we are.
  • a common language to communicate strengths in a humble and authentic manner with those closest to us.
  • strategies for utilizing our strengths at home, the office, in our relationships, and on a wellness journey.

One of the tools I use in my practice is the StrengthsFinder Assessment. This helps individuals, teams, and families understand their unique talents and how to be more effective working and living together. The tool is grounded in decades of solid research based on two fundamental assumptions:

  • Each person’s talents are enduring and unique.
  • Each person’s greatest room for growth is in the areas of his or her greatest strength.

So join me as we discover our strengths and how you can best utilize them to find your full potential in happiness in your everyday life.
